A morning walk around Pennington Marshes, a wonderful coastal wetland full of birds in winter.
Pennington Marshes are a great place for birds in winter. The wet fields and lagoons attract many waders and wildfowl. As well as the common species such as Redshank, Curlew, Grey Plover, Teal and Wigeon there are often less common species such as Pintail and Golden Plover.
The sea can be very good for birds as well. Sometimes there is a small flock of wintering Eider ducks and there are often a few Slavonian Grebe. Last year there was a Long-tailed Duck on the sea here.
Overall a brilliant place and we should see a good number of species. If you want to practice identifying ducks and waders, then this is the place to come.
There are toilets in the pub. Car parking is free.
