Deer at Dawn (Bolderwood, New Forest)
Location: Meet at Canadian Memorial car park near Bolderwood.

Date and time: 8am-11am Friday 5 December.

A walk to see the Fallow deer and varied birdlife in this wooded part of the New Forest.

During the winter the Fallow Deer are harder to find as they frequent the woodlands more than the open ground. This area is a good place to search for them and for scarce birds. There are Firecrest and Hawfinch in the woods and Dartford Warblers on the heaths here, and with luck we may see them all as early morning is the best time to see them.

There are toilets at the car park. They may not be open when we arrive, but will be open when we get back to the cars.

How to book: Please book in advance by contacting Project Fred on 01425 673321 or by emailing project.fred@virgin.net.

Cost: £6.

Length of walk: Medium about 3km on mostly level ground, which may be a bit wet in places.

What to bring: Binoculars if you have them.

Early morning is a wonderful time to be out and about on the Forest. In the winter it can be particularly atmospheric.
