Wildlife wander at Keyhaven Marshes (Keyhaven, Hampshire)
Location: Meet at the car park opposite the Gun Inn, Keyhaven, SZ 306,915.

Date and time: 1pm-4pm Thursday 6 November.

Keyhaven is a great area with many birds due to the variety of habitats: freshwater wet fields, brackish lagoons, reedbeds, tidal mudflats and small areas of woodland and hedgerow. We expect to see many waders and wildfowl. As well as the commoner species such as Black-tailed Godwit, Curlew, Dunlin, Teal and Wigeon we may see Greenshank, Pintail and Eider. We have seen Merlin, Peregrine, Dartford Warbler and Kingfisher here too, so we should be in for a great afternoon full of birds.

The car park opposite the Gun Inn is free over the winter months. There is also free car parking spaces further along the road, if you turn left before the Gun Inn when approaching it from Milford-on-Sea.

There are toilets at the car park where we meet.

How to book: Please book in advance by contacting Project Fred on 01425 673321 or by emailing project.fred@virgin.net.

Cost: £6.

Length of walk: Medium, 4km on level ground.

These lagoons at Keyhaven are always packed wi the birds such as Pintail, Wigeon and Black-tailed Godwit. The sea and mudflats can hold Eider, grebes and Merlin.
