A walk to see Fallow Deer in Queens Meadow where they rut at this time.
This area of the Forest is full of deer in autumn. We walk through woodland from the car park where we may see Roe Deer. Then we walk over an area of heath where Red Deer are often seen before coming to the grassy Queens Meadow where the Fallow Deer gather for their rut.
The Fallow Deer call is different, more of a pig like grunt than the Red's belching! However there can be just as much action with the males fighting over females.
Join us to see what we can see and to have an enjoyable afternoon stroll in this part of the Forest. Birds we may see in this area include Hawfinch and Raven.
There are toilets at the car park.
