At the roundabout with the petrol station as you get to Pennington, turn left and then almost immediately right. This is Pennington Lane. Follow it to the end and there is parking for some cars.
Date and time: 9am-1pm Thursday 25 September.
Do waders confuse you? Are you left wondering if your Dunlin is really a Stint? Join me on this morning visit to Pennington Marshes to look at waders and sort out their identifying features. We should see common species such as Dunlin and Redshank and hope to see some of the less common autumn passage waders such as Curlew Sandpiper and Little Stint.
We will also be keeping our eyes open for other birds and wildlife. Ospreys are sometimes seen here in autumn and commoner migrants such as Wheatears and Swallows should be seen. Whinchat and Yellow Wagtail are two species that are most easily seen here in autumn and we may see some today.
There are toilets at Keyhaven (halfway round the route). Car parking is free.
