Titchfield Haven is a great place for migrating birds, especially waders. The reserve covers quite a large area and we shall explore the southern parts nearest the coast. Here there are marshy areas and shallow pools with muddy edges overlooked by hides.
The hides offer views over the muddy pools and there are usually lots of birds to be seen. This is a good time of year for seeing many waders and there are often the less common species such as Curlew Sandpiper, Little Stint and sometimes Wood Sandpiper here. There is always a chance of something more unusual such as Osprey.
Entrance to the reserve is £3.70 and £3 for senior citizens over 60. The visitor centre has a shop that sells books and wildlife equipment. There is also a café. There are toilets at the visitor centre.
Parking is free along the road near the visitor centre and in a car park past the visitor centre.
