"Simon displays a wide breadth of natural history knowledge that delights the beginner, with whom he is patient and supportive, through to encouraging the more experienced participant to develop new skills. He is particularly good at categorising and breaking down differences in birds, flowers etc. that enhance one's own powers of observation while structuring new ways of making recognition easier. Groups tend to work well together, partly because he makes a point of getting to know everyone, and because he keeps himself in touch with the needs of each member through his friendly, enquiring and supportive manner. We keep coming back because we keep on learning from him."

"I've been on a couple of courses run by Simon, each time I've been an absolute beginner and each time I've walked away with a sound ability to go out and use my field guides quickly, competently and easily. This, coupled with Simon's humour and expertise, make each course well worth it and really good fun! I would highly recommend Simon's courses to anyone who loves nature and the outdoors but is just a bit baffled by the vast array of species out there."
Caireen, Stockbridge
"Once again, Simon, thank you for a wonderfully congenial and informative day out. As usual, you had something new to show us. How do you manage it?"
Derek and Lyz, Southampton
"Dear Simon and Mandy,
Thank you both so much for making the walks and talks you run so enjoyable. You manage to make everyone welcome whatever subject they are more interested in.
I have personally learnt so much about birdwatching and identification, wildflowers, butterflies and a variety of other wildlife and insects.
Your method of teaching coupled with your friendly approach makes the whole learning experience more enjoyable, with the added bonus of meeting up with other similarly interested and interesting people.
Please keep the courses going as I always look forward to the next selection.
Tracy Welsh"
