Redwings - 19th Oct
« on: October 19, 2006, 12:35:31 PM »

Hi everyone,
Saw my first Redwing of the year a couple of days ago. It flew over me at Hengistbury Head. From now on it is worth keeping your ears alert after dark to see if you hear them fly over. Their call is a thin, fairly high-pitched 'seeeep'. A great past-time on the way back from the pub!

Saw a few Redwings today (25th Oct) on the New Forest, so they are now around.
Keep your ears open for them flying over at night.
