The weather was mild, but very windy. Highlights were Golden Plover, Spotted Redshank, Pintail and Red-breasted Merganser.
The first birds we saw was a field of Canada Geese, Brent Geese, Lapwing, a few Curlew and 2 Black-tailed Godwit. As we got to the sea there were a couple of Little Egret by an inlet and several Great Crested Grebe on the sea. These were joined by a female Red-breasted Merganser for a short while. There were roosting Grey Plover, Dunlin, Redshank and a few Ringed Plover and Oystercatcher on a nearby sand bar. We then walked along the coast with the lagoons on one side and the sea on the other. As it was high tide the lagoons had lots of ducks and waders. Wigeon, Teal, Mallard, Shoveler, Black-tailed Godwit and Redshank were in good numbers and John found 4 Spotted Redshank too. We got great views of then next to redshank so we could compare them both easily. We turned inland and on the flooded field by Lower Pennington Lane there were more ducks including some Pintail and a large flock of about 400 Golden Plover, which we got great views of. We walked along to the pond along the track and saw a few Tufted Duck, Gadwall and Coot before making our way back to the cars. Despite the wind we had seen a good number of birds.
