There has been a report of a Hoopoe on the New Forest this afternoon on Broomy Plain - by roadside between Linwood and Stony Cross. It was on the road verge near the junction of the gravel track to Broomy Lodge at SU 215,106. It may stick around or it may go very soon. It is such a pretty bird, I hope some of you get to se it. Simon Curson.

12th Oct - The Hoopoe was seen at Broomy Plain until about 1pm. We had a look between 1.30 and 2.30pm but did not see it. Saw great views of a perched Merlin and several Dartford Warbler - the first one was found by Heather. If anyone does see the Hoopoe could they let us know. Cheers Simon Curson

They can stay a while or go pretty quick. Last spring there were some in Wooton Coppice inclosure & around that general area. They were there a few days but I still missed them.
