The weather was mild and cloudy. We set off from the car park and walked along the beach seeing Cormorants and a Common Gull. The stream by the road had some Stonechats and Meadow Pipits giving good views as they fed on bushes beside it. The tide was beginning to go down and we saw Brent Geese, Little Egret and Teal. A small flock of Ringed Plover flew in and settled on the beach and there was one Dunlin with them. On the walk along the foreshore to the power station we saw Redshank, Curlew, Wigeon, Shelduck and Great-crested Grebe. We looked for the Black Redstarts at the power station, but they did not show themselves – all we saw were Linnets, Pied Wagtails and Meadow Pipits. You can’t win them all! Simon Curson
