Siskins
« on: March 25, 2008, 11:34:52 AM »

Did anyone see the press release put out by the BTO (British Trust for Ornithology) ?  ...... Interesting. They are talking of a 'Siskin Invasion' of the UK (from Scandinavia)  and are setting up a survey to monitor their movements. At the beginning of the year we had one or two Siskins daily on our bird feeders at home but have noticed a steady increase as the year has progressed: now we are having up to 25 at any one time.  The woman we spoke to this morning at the BTO was amazed and said that these need not necessarily be resident, that we might be getting hundreds passing through! Has anyone else noticed this increase in their gardens?

If anyone wants to help with the BTO survey their tel number is 01842 750050 - or e-mail gbw@bto.org and they will send you an information pack free.  Cheers Ann
