Congratulations (23 August 2006)
« on: August 23, 2006, 01:25:48 PM »

Phew!  Done it and survived!  Registered that is!

The website is great and it wasn't too bad registering.  I'm looking forward to hearing about places to go and wildlife to see so hope lots of people will have ideas to share.

Just wanted to test the system out for now.

Mary,
Thid system is not too bad once you find your way around it, is it?
Have you been out and seen any wildlife of late?

I went to Marsh Farm in Essex a couple of weeks ago and there were ruddy ducks and coots with young.  It took us a while to identify the coot juvenile without its parents.  We also saw a Great Egret.  We thought it was a little egret at first but it was big and had black feet.  We checked on the web after and there was a Great Egret in the area so it must have been visiting there.

I'm off to Gower camping next week.  Does anyone have any particular recommendations of places to view birds?

Great White Egret is a good one to get - well done for IDing it too.
On the Gower there are some good birding spots. The estauries will be filling with waders now. On the north edge of the Peninsular is the large Burry Inlet which has thousands of waders and Oxwich Bay in the south of the Gower is also good.
Kenfig Pools, a little way east, is good with ducks and good plants. It is between North Connelly and Porthcawl.

Thanks for that Simon.

We've come across one of those problems which arises in these sort of message boards - which is the problem of subject.  We are now talking about "birding in Gower" not "congratulations on you website".

I know it's early days and we are "guinea pigging this" but have you or anyone else any thoughts on this.  Should we keep the thread or should we change the subject?  I don't know. Can one do both?  I've just tried adding Gower to the subject line and will see if that works!

There are no bugs in this board structure - trust me folks :-)

For each topic you must START a new topic. The reason that the Gower is being discussed here is because nobody has started a topic on that subject. In other words:
