Date and time: 10am-4pm Saturday 24 April. Further dates for this course are: 15 May, 26 June and 14 August.
Come and learn how to identify flowers in the best parts of West Sussex. A series of four dates visiting different habitats. Each habitat is visited to coincide with prime flowering times!! At the end of the course you should be familiar with most of the common species of West Sussex and some rare ones. Each day is from 10am until 4pm and starts with an introductory slide talk followed by field visits. Each date is intended to be a day's course in its own right, but coming along to all four dates will greatly increase your knowledge of the flowers of Sussex.
This first date will include discussions on flower ID with a slide talk from 10am to 12 Noon in the village hall to learn the theory of how to identify flowers. Lunch will be from 12 Noon to 1pm in the village hall. We then drive to West Dean Woods for the rest of the day walking outside.
In the afternoon we shall be concentrating on woodland flowers and we hope to see species such as Yellow Archangel, Toothwort, Three-nerved Sandwort and Early Purple Orchid as well as carpets of Wood Anemone and Bluebell.
